Fiat Cinquecento sporting write up

Post by 1250cinqturbo (ADMIN) on Thu Mar 11, 2010 12:38 am

the first Fiat Cinquecento rolled of the production line in 1992 from the polland production company using a newly bought robotic system bought solely to build the Cinquecento to the cost off 800 million pounds!
At first 840 cinqs were being made per day until the final cinq rolled off the line in 98 to the tune of 1 million of its kind.

The cinquecento sporting held an impressive 60% of the market for small cars in the 90's all over europe. It was fitted with Fiats proven but modernized 1108cc f.i.r.e engine with a single over head camshaft and electronic single point fuel injection, the engine put out 54bhp @ 5500rpm with a set rev limit off 7200rpm and 63lb/sf of torque @ 3250rpm.
On the road it was very economical giving upto 55mpg on a run and around 45mpg round town, town driving is what the cinq was made for and many aspects off the car show this fact to be true such as the low ratio 5 speed maual box and the (high torque/cc ratio engine) meaning round town you can make less gear changes to keep the car going.

Performance wasnt blistering but owners report high than stated figures for 0-60 and top speed, the stanadard sporting took 13 seconds to get to 60 and a top speed off 96mph (100mph can be achived). But on the plus side the light weight 735kg chassis meant the cinqs bhp per ton was a respectable 75bhp/per ton (the same as alot of modern day 1400cc 16v hatches).

The Sporting also got a front anti-roll bar, stiffer 20mm lower springs and shock absoarbers and 13" alloy wheels along with colour coded bumpers with vents.

The Sporting Abarth was a limited edition car from with added bumper skirts and side skirts, fogs and alloys.
