Fords only diesel ST
Fords only diesel to wear the ST logo the Ford Mondeo ST-tdci,,,,,,a true ST???,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,deffinatly here is a bit off information on the load lugging monster torque ST -
Ford Mondeo 2.2 ST-tdci 155
BHP - 153
LB/SF - 265 @1800rpm
295 on 10 second over boost
0-60 - 8.7 seconds
30-60 in third gear - 4.7 seconds
max speed - 137mph
The ST-tdci has the full body and chassis setup of the ST220 so it handles amazingly well and looks stunning, fitted with Fords own all alluminium 2198cc 16v DOHC diesel engine with a variable geometry Garrett turbo and common rail direct fuel injection runinng at 1600bar pressure, it may not be the quickest upto 60 due to the usual diesel rev limit but once it going it rides on a huge wave of torque nicley spread through the rev range and a 6 speed durashift gearbox.
ESP (electronic stability program) deals with the huge torque and makes the car increadably quick round the tight and twistys along with one has been considered to be one of fords best front wheel drive chassis, the big brakes and ABS make stopping all of the 1600kgs a doddle.
Ford briefly released a 175bhp version of the ST-tdci but they are not easy to come across.
After a simple £300 remap and a pannel filter the 2.2 engine is made to be what it should have been from the factory -
AFTER REMAP -
BHP- 195 @ 3500RPM
LB/SF - 345 @2000RPM
0-60 - 7.6 seconds
30-60 in third - 4 seconds
max speed - 140plus mph
whats your view on the only diesel ST???

Very impressive stats from before and after remap why don't we all have diesel Mondeo's reliable nice to drive top gear rated it as a car they can't fault.

Good point ryan, there are alot of ST-tdci's on the road now days but as a car they are fantastic, the remap is a must though...why ford gave it only 153bhp for a 2.2 is daft but it only gives more room for mods spose.
I see my self investing in dads one day because evertime i drive it i love it more and more, super fast, easy to drive, sooo economical, good looking, cheap to run, safe, reliable etc etc the list goes on.
And i must say one thing, appart from the noisey tickover its the best diesel ive had exsperience with (and its not a pug diesel its fords work)
Im seeling it to myself here haha
