Ford 2.2 16v DURATORQ ST-tdci engine

The Ford dURATORQ 2.2 2198cc 16v engine was devloped by ford for the mk3 mondeo, the alluminuim design makes the engine light and agile for a diesel, with 153bhp @ 4500rpm (155ps) it is not the most powerful diesel in its class but ford never intended it to be, it was designed for torque - in that class it trances the competition putting out 295lb/sf of torque @ 1800rpm on overboost and 265/lb/sf of torque after overboost. This means in this engines powers the mondeo from 30-60mph in third in just 4.7 seconds (a golf TDI 140bhp does it in 9 seconds!) and on to a top speed of 137mph.
The engine uses Garrett Variable Geomatry turbo making it livley coming onto boost and it utalizes Delphi's 1600 bar Common-rail Direct fuel injection system making it clean and efficient.
Ford released a 175ps version of the 2.2 engine and offer a remap for the early engine boosting it to 180bhp/330lb/sf of torque however companys such as celtic tuning can take this pulling brute of an engine upto 205bhp with 350lb/sf of torque!!!! more torque then the 3500cc twin turbo v8 lotus esprit.
